Thank you for choosing Great Movers. Over the years we have successfully served hundreds of clients, each with different kinds of special requests. When moving, our team will make every effort to meet your highest expectations. Please read our company's policy carefully to avoid any misunderstandings on the actual day of the move.
Local Moving
Moving Cost
As a local customer you are charged a specified hourly rate, determined by the number of movers requested. You are billed simply from the moment we arrive at your current location, to the completion of the move-in process at your final destination. There are no additional charges for stairs, long carries, assembling, disassembling, wrapping, narrow hallways, or long walking distances.
Travel Time
Transportation is charged as Double Driving Time (DDT) and will only be applied to your rate if the distance between pick-up and drop-off locations is more than 15 miles. DDT is simply the amount of time it takes our movers to drive between your locations, doubled, and combined with your overall labor time. Customer is responsible for any parking tickets during loading and unloading if there is no available parking space.
Labor Time
Labor Time starts once movers arrive at your origin address and ends when movers finish unloading at the destination address. Labor time is calculated based on 15-minute increments at the rate indicated on the estimate. Any travel between the origin and the destination is considered to be part of the labor time.
Arrival Time Frame
Please keep in mind that we do not provide a specific time of arrival. We offer 2-hour arrival time frames for all jobs scheduled in the AM and 4-hour arrival time frames for all jobs scheduled in the afternoon. Great Movers takes pride in showing up on time; however, there are situations that are beyond our control.
Customer Presence
The customer or an authorized representative must be present during the move at all times. It is the customer's responsibility to do a final walk-through inspection of the premises to ensure we have taken and delivered everything. Our time runs continuously until all tools and equipment are back in the truck and payment is completed.
Wrapping & Packing Materials
We have additional fees for packing tape, wardrobe boxes, stretch wrap, and moving pads.
Additional Services
In the event unknown additional services are required to perform your move, these costs will be in addition to the amount stated in your moving estimate. Such services and applicable charges will be based upon the prices and rates in effect on the date of issue of your quote.
Waiting Time
In case our crew arrives at your location as agreed but you're not ready for us to start the job, you will be billed for our waiting time. Please understand that you're holding up our team by not being ready for the move.
Parking
Two parking spaces (to accommodate a 24-foot-long moving truck) should be provided and secured by the customer. The parking spot must be located within 75 feet from the entrance. If a parking permit is needed, it is the customer's responsibility to inform Great Movers and obtain all permits, unless otherwise indicated on the move plan. In case there is no parking available and the truck must be parked in a non-permitted space, the customer is responsible for covering the cost of any parking tickets issued to Great Movers.
Long Distance Moving
Moving Cost
The final cost of your long distance move is determined by the mileage, weight, and space your shipment takes up on the truck. Learn about rates on our "Prices and Supplies" page.
Pick-Up
We provide our customers with a specific date for the pick-up of your long distance shipment. If we said we'll be there — we'll be there.
Delivery Time Frame
We offer two pricing options on all long distance deliveries: Regular Business Delivery and Express Delivery. Your delivery time frame starts from your first available delivery date, unless otherwise specified in the contract.
Driving Hours & Mileage
Due to DOT regulations, we are obligated to stop driving after 600 miles or 10 hours of driving, whichever occurs first. In case of traffic or bad weather conditions, we may be forced to postpone your delivery.
Additional Services
In the event unknown additional services are required, these costs will be in addition to the amount stated in your moving estimate, based on rates in effect on the date of your quote.
Waiting Time
If our crew arrives as agreed but you're not ready, you will be billed for our waiting time. Please be ready for the move to avoid delays and additional charges.
Parking
Same parking requirements as local moves apply: two spaces within 75 feet of the entrance for a 24-foot truck, with permits the customer's responsibility.
Cancellation and Rescheduling
- For a full deposit refund, please cancel at least 48 hours before the actual move date.
- Any cancellations within 48 hours may result in a total loss of your deposit.
- All reschedules must be confirmed with your sales representative at least 48 hours prior to the move.
- Please note that rates are subject to change based on availability and dates at time of rescheduling.
Promotional Items
- Any promotional items (flyers, coupons, third-party vendor offers, promo codes, online deals, or certificates) must be submitted and redeemed before the actual booking of the move and will not be accepted after the reservation is completed.
- No promotional items can be applied toward moving requests based on discounted rates. Rates are subject to change based on availability.
- Two or more promotional items cannot be combined.
- Returns of any promotional items purchased through a third party must be processed directly through the seller/distributor.
- Purchase of any promotional item through a third party does not guarantee availability or a fixed price. Rates are subject to change.
Disposal Services (Junk Removal)
Great Movers is a moving and junk removal company — we can take care of unwanted items. Any removal service must be approved and confirmed by our staff prior to the move. Junk removal uses a completely different type of truck than moving services.
Junk Removal Pricing
Our price is based on volume. We have a minimum charge of ¼ of a truck, all the way up to a full truckload.
Our team will go to your location, assess the items being removed, and provide you with the best quote. If you decide to proceed, the team will handle payment on the day of service. We accept Zelle, cash, or all major credit cards (3.75% fee applies).
Damages and Claims
Great Movers provides basic moving insurance for your belongings that takes effect from the time your items are first handled by our movers until your items reach your final destination. Our coverage follows the US DOT standard of $0.60 per pound of damages.
Applicable notes about damages must be submitted on the Bill of Lading on the day of your move before movers leave your premises. All customers sign a Bill of Lading upon completion that reads: "The above services were rendered and all goods delivered in good order, except as noted."
Unless payment is made in full as due, we are not required to answer or process a claim. Do not attempt to deduct money from the final bill to compensate yourself in the event of damage — this is illegal.
Special Items
- Refrigerators/Freezers: We only move empty units. Please empty the contents for safe moving. Great Movers will not take responsibility for mechanical condition unless visible physical damage was caused during moving.
- Aquariums: Any aquarium to be moved must be completely empty. Great Movers will not disassemble, reassemble, or install any aquarium. Please consult a professional prior to the move.
- Pianos: Piano moves must be confirmed in detail with our staff prior to the move. Upright piano: $95.00 charge (additional $95.00 per each flight of stairs).
Moving Insurance
In order to avoid misunderstandings, please read the following carefully.
- All charges must be paid in full before any claim filing can be placed by the customer.
- All payments for services rendered must be in the form of cash or credit card.
- Upon completion of the job, it is the customer's responsibility to inspect the truck to ensure nothing has been left behind.
Limited Liability
As a licensed common carrier, we are required to provide limited liability coverage at no charge to the customer. Under this option, maximum liability is limited to $0.60 per pound per article in the event of damage or loss.
If damage occurs due to a mistake on the part of Great Movers, every attempt will be made to assess the damage and have it properly fixed. If an amount can be agreed upon between both parties, the matter will be settled immediately. If not, the moving invoice must still be paid in full before a claim can be filed.
Coverage Does Not Apply To:
- Items of extraordinary nature or value (jewelry, furs, stocks, bonds, cash, antiques, art collections), unless a special agreement has been made.
- Loss or damage resulting from wear and tear, moths or vermin, dampness of atmosphere, or extremes of temperature.
- Acts or omissions of the shipper, such as neglecting to properly prepare items for shipment.
- Internal electronic or mechanical items, whether packed or unpacked by Great Movers or the shipper.
- Breakage of fragile items (china, glassware, etc.), unless packed and unpacked by Great Movers or caused by fire, collision, or overturn of the transport vehicle.
- Marble items — Due to fragility, Great Movers will not take responsibility for any type of coverage.
- Press-Wood / Particle Board items — Must be properly disassembled. Great Movers will not take responsibility if not disassembled prior to the move.
- All electronic items — Great Movers is not responsible for any internal damage to electronic or mechanical items.
